I find it hard to believe that, when the mainstream media take Rick Santorum's remarks on a subject and magnifies them all out of proportion, otherwise intelligent people believe that the magnification is a fair portrayal of what Santorum would do in office.
Rick has been delivering major one-hour or more policy speeches at least once, and generally twice, a week during this campaign. He has outlined in detail his stands on every issue from the debt and deficit, to dealing with radical Islam, solving the energy crisis, re-invigorating American manufacturing, reviving the housing market, sealing our southern border, etc.
During his four years in the House and twelve years in the Senate, Santorum had a sterling congressional career in which he authored, sponsored, supported and fought for legislation on a wide range of issues, from foreign policy, to developing energy sources, welfare reform, uncovering a major scandal, dealing with radical Islam, agriculture, banking, urban affairs, etc.
He has experience on the board of a major hospital management company and as director of the American Enemies Program for the Ethics and Public Policy Center.
I would estimate that five percent of his time in both the public and private policy sectors has been devoted to a focus on social issues. And yet the people who are swallowing the media hype regarding Rick's one-trick-pony status are picturing him sitting behind his desk in the Oval Office ignoring the major threats that face this country and instead attempting to enforce porn laws or make birth control illegal.
The power of the agenda-driven mainstream media apparently knows no bounds. |
