It's pretty clear that this is more than simply having a position about enforcing existing laws. It's pretty clear that "obscene" is still open to interpretation.

And why would we care what "obscene" is as long as it is between consenting adults? Why does Santorum care? Why is it on his website and not anybody else's website if there is no difference in their positions?

I know how China enforces their obscenity laws. The have a whole ministry dedicated to internet censorship. Every bit and byte of data that traverses the internet in China goes through a very few key routers that are owned by the government. Any objectionable website (whether porn or political) is filtered out.

And that's what it would take. Because, even if you could shut down all of the domestic porn sites, there are still millions of websites operating in other countries.

Does it really matter what people view to get their rocks off? Again, we are talking consenting adults where nobody's rights are being violated. We're not talking kiddie porn or rape porn. There the issue is far deeper than the fact that it is recorded and the rights of those who are violated have to be protected.

I simply don't care what people view in their bedroom or hotel room. I also don't care who somebody sleeps with. I also don't care if somebody decides to smoke a joint or drink alcohol. It's simply none of my business.

And I am not willing to give my government dictatorial powers to enforce obscenity laws that are open to interpretation and shouldn't be there in the first place.
