The Biggest Ape maybe in the currency markets.

like soros. i can't stand him. but he didn't bust anything that didn't need busting. certain countries thought they could get away with policies that were destructive to their own currencies. he saw it and profited. those currencies were going to fail if their respective countries didn't change their policies anyway.

The Big Apes of course are the Central Banks.

no one should be allowed to set interest rates. that's a job for the market ONLY.

Simple currency fluctuations make all commodities and bonds and stocks move wildly.

too much of a move causes panic. in a free market world, the moves would be small and orderly.
