Actually, as a contrarian, everything else matters to me.. the trend is obvious.

I agree with you on the CNBC and CNNfn... someone ought to devise a daily listing of what they are focused on because those elements have a tradable following. On the other hand, a friend came back from the Chicago options pits, he said they had no idea what was on the news each day, just too busy to care.

I have a feeling that the indexes often move faster than the news, ie the news is a trailing rationalization which has some inertial following if its impact is accumulative like the Japan Yamaichi failure or Asia, otherwise its entertainment.
