Mostly it just take ages to boot up.

Have you added many doodads and geegaws in the form of system modifiers? Things that show up in your menu bar after startup or in the Other category at the bottom of your System Preferences?

Those things will slow startup down, no doubt about that. I relatively clean install of OS X should boot pretty quickly.

A way to test all this to see if it's related to your specific user account is to create a new account and boot into that one. Notice how fast it starts up and compare the two.

Otherwise I wouldn't worry about troubleshooting it unless you're in the habit of starting up several times a day.
