Re turning this thread into a political rant: I agree sometimes too much bias gets expressed. On the other hand, oil (energy) can hardly be separated from politics. There can be disagreement on what policies are good or bad for the country and on what policies are good or bad for energy companies. Is that discussion out of place on this board? Or should we be cynical. I personally think it is bullish for more and more oil reserves to be controlled by governments that will starve national oil companies to buy votes. (Mexico, Venezuela etc.) But it is obviously bearish when a company you own stock in is nationalized. If you own Rockhopper you might not speak kindly of politics in Argentina. If you think green policies are premature and counterproductive, you might cheer enviros for implementing policies that will restrict excessive production of natural gas. I personally don't have any problem with the politics. Let Krauthammer and Krugman have at it. Bad policies are good if they put the price of oil up. Obviously not everyone on the board agrees with practical cynicism. I have even been put on ignore by a thin-skinned guy in California. But if we have a problem, I expect the Dog to weigh in.
