A dirty secret about why so many people can't afford health insurance is that states (and now the Federal Government) have larded so many required coverages onto policies. And every time a legislature adds a new one the state/media complex reports it from the point of view of the poor poor folks who will befit from it. Completely missing is the estimate of how many thousand people will be priced out of the market because of it. 'Course from a statist's point of view this is a good thing. Another crisis for them to ride into and solve.
