I always drive myself to the hospital when they do surgery. I then have my brother or a friend arrive to "pick me up". Then we leave and I drive home alone. This has worked for me with over 10 same day surgery episodes in which I was anesthetized by varying degrees from what they described as light sleep to deeper type.

It all depends on the individual as to whether they can safely operate a vehicle an hour or two after anesthesia. It certainly doesn't make me better and possibly it makes me less smart to take that route. It is simply easier than being delivered and then picked up.
