GWB's job approval [at the time] greatly understated his achievements. No president in our history, other than perhaps FDR, faced the kinds of challenges Bush did -- and Bush rose to every occasion. The one BIG criticism I have of him was in passage of Medicare Part D; but if one looks at how it happened and why, it is clear that the rationale made good sense. The problem, of course, is he failed to anticipate that the Democrats would fuck it up a few short years later with Obamacare.
