True. What about all the open and hidden "stimuli" - which to a large extent were pork barrel bribes to preferred recipients.... misspent money, which we the public now owe and on which we pay interest. What about the astronomic deficit spending, which will eventually get paid back one way or another. Any person with an IQ of over 60 and change should be able to realize that spending some 40% more than you take in cannot be a good way to live. Even those who benefit from redistribution would not want the goose that lays the golden eggs to croak. And this is exactly where the current "leadership" is taking us.
