"When I say “capitalism,” I mean a full, pure, uncontrolled, unregulated laissez-faire capitalism—with a separation of state and economics,

Ayn Rand's "Utopia"...

But alas, it's just not possible. Capitalism follows the "Law of the Jungle" with the weakest being consumed and dominated by the strongest until there is only "monopolistic capitalism" controlled by people who pay themselves far too much for doing nothing but market manipulation and destroying competition. Look at how Wall St. created naked CDS in order to commit economic "arson" against asset prices (like buying insurance on your neighbor's house). Who wants to lend when the underlying collateral can be targeted for destruction.

Or the big TBTF banks manipulating LIBOR rates (something STILL to be properly investigated and dealt with).

I prefer competitive capitalism, where Government plays a role in fostering innovation, and entrepreneurial investment, as well as enabling it's citizens to become productive (job training, education based upon merit) Remove the barriers to entry for the general population to engage in competitive capitalism. Enforce anti-trust and market manipulation by the supra-national corporations.

You cannot have an uncontrolled "non-democratic" corporatocracy sharing power with a democratic government.. The democracy will forever be undermined, blackmailed, and subverted by the mega corporations..

My view of capitalism is best stated by Hernando De Soto, the Peruvian economist.
