We have rules for a reason. If you tell a broker "short with my remaining cash. Thanks." the broker will short, in this case, $50 of the stock you specify. The point of the rule is to think about any order you place for the same reason that's a good idea when you're using real money. Your way you can violate rules and see if Elroy catches it. He adjusted a recent order but I don't think he should. If an order is invalid, it should not be modified by the non-rules to make it valid. Do you play golf? Do you kick the ball away from a tree?
