I remember being a cub scout when I was nine and ten and thinking, crap, all my friends are getting their wolf badge and I was wasting my time doing things like baseball and football. They give you a book, which I still somehow have, where you have to do these tasks that your parents then verify by indicating the date and signing their name. For example, on page 66 it says "Get your family to read a book together, taking turns reading out loud." So I would tell my father, yeah, cough, I did that yesterday, sign here. I could not have been prouder to have achieved anything else at that age, save my good sportsmanship award on field day, but that's another story.

I'm now thinking about going for the Silver Beaver award, but I'm wondering if using your own wife counts?
