I agree with the rule that says we can't have weapons on Neighborhood Patrol for the exact reason to prevent what happened in Florida. A neighborhood patrol like ours would not be appropriate in a big city anyway. We receive training, but it's training in OBSERVATION, and we are prohibited from taking direct action.

I have no intention of routinely carrying, but I do intend to protect and defend my rights--guaranteed, by the way, not granted, by the Second Amendment.

Our neighborhood is very quiet, but it's not far too an area where there are some backwoods meth labs, and a lot of the county is very poor. We keep everything locked, which I hope is sufficient to prevent break-ins by people looking for food or guns.

Several times at about 10 pm, I've heard somebody fire up a vehicle a block or so away and drive it like it was a NASCAR race. I can hear it going by the next street over and I can still hear it on the highway about a half mile away and for about a mile after that. Usually in our house we can't hear a vehicle go by unless it is a garbage truck or snow plow.

I'm about to report this to the sheriff next time it happens. He'll be down here in a few days to put the new decals on our Neighborhood Patrol car, so I'll talk to him about it.
