There was no imminent danger of the unarmed Trayvon inflicting great bodily injury on Zimmerman who outweighed him by a bout 100 pounds. In WA, Zimmerman would have been prosecuted and would have to sell his story of self defense to a jury. In Fl, the burden of proof is on the state to disprove the claim of self defense.
