The 34th Annual St. Stupid’s Day Parade 2012 is a celebration of stupidity.

It’s sponsored by The First Church of the Last Laugh, which is the world’s oldest church because, “all other religions are based on fear and guilt and before those can work, you must have stupidity.”

Now if that makes sense to you, wear something silly and gather with all the other stupids at the Transamerica Building at noon. Insiders know this as “the weekend route” for the parade.

The sidewalk parade will then proceed up Columbus Avenue to make the Ritual Stops. This year the parade concludes at Joe Dimaggio Playground (one block past Washington Square Park). It seems the residents of Washington Square Park couldn’t handle the stupid anymore.

Odd costumes, noise makers, satiric signage on the business of religion and the religion of business are encouraged.
