The United States started 2001 with a cozy nest egg of more than $2 trillion

Absolute bullsweet. In Jan 2001, the Federal debt was approximately $5.7T That is a rotten smelling nest egg.

Obama and the Dems blame Bush's policies, but never explain why they didn't change them during the 2 years that they controlled both the Senate and House. They were willing to ram Health care through, why not tax increases? Perhaps they were more concerned about re-election than doing what they now claim is necessary?
