Fred certainly did come up with a solution - he lives in Mexico.
Having myself lived in Mexico and experienced its brand of corruption first hand, I can say that I prefer the Mexican brand. It is out in the open, transparent rather than insidious. Actually, I'd prefer no corruption at all, but that is too high a goal.
It takes a lot of insight and examination to see things for what they are. Most Americans do not have a clue, thus the rise of wacky conspiracy theories. Most know something's wrong but, like the song says, they don't know what it is. And I think this is the nut of the problem: a vague dissatisfaction fueled by lowered economic prospects in a place where it is obvious that a minority is profiting tremendously....Tea Party, OWS, survivalists, the anarachists, etc. all part of the same phenomenon. This vague dissatisfaction, the malaise Carter identified years ago, I think might be the straw that broke the camel's back.
As for me, I take care of my own bailiwick. |
