...Do Californians really want to increase taxes by $9 billion? That's what the numbers seem to indicate from a new USC Dornsife/L.A. Times Poll. It asked about a tax-increase proposal that's the same one being pushed by Gov. Jerry Brown and his allies in the public-sector unions. Respondents were asked whether taxes should be increased by boosting the top state income tax rate by 3 percentage points, making the new top rate 13.3 percent, which would be the nation's highest. And sales taxes would be boosted a quarter-cent statewide. In Orange County, the current sales tax rate is 7.75 percent. So the new rate here would be 8 percent...
