After I read the paper on this thread, I went to the Rambus white paper and read that, too. The white paper appeared to indicate that there would be a speed advantage to using RDRAM. Michael's colleague's review also seemed to indicate this based on his comments that Intel was interested in Rambus technology because they wanted to speed up DRAM access times. Yet there was no mention made of the speed advantage, how much and how meaningful it is - he only talked about the savings in interface pins needed. It seems like the review Michael posted left out some important advantages to the Rambus technology, and I would like to find out more about what someone in the DRAM industry thinks about those advantages.
