FOX PULLS ADS FROM FLORIDA THEATERS IN LIGHT OF TRAYVON MARTIN'S DEATH

(NEWSER) – In the wake of Trayvon Martin's death, last week's teaser trailer for Fox's Neighborhood Watch—in which four guys clad in Neighborhood Watch jackets pull a kid into a police station for questioning—could easily raise eyebrows. Not surprisingly, Fox pulled the trailer, as well as the newly released poster—which features a Neighborhood Watch sign riddled with bullet holes—from Florida theaters. The studio plans to quickly move on to the next phase of marketing the movie, which is actually about an alien invasion, but will not change the July 27 release date, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Says a Fox spokesperson, "We are very sensitive to the Trayvon Martin case, but our film is a broad alien-invasion comedy and bears absolutely no relation to the tragic events in Florida. … Above all else, our thoughts go out to the families touched by this terrible event."
