Alaska is in better shape than any state in the union because of liberals and big government. We have 50 billion in investmens, pay no state taxes and every man, woman and child gets a check from the state for about $1,500 every year. The proof is in the pudding.

Liberals fought conservatives (and the oil companies) tooth and nail to get this permanent fund which is a huge government program. See links below. It was all done by liberals who controlled the house in the 70's and a liberal Republican governor who lived in the bush with a yupik wife. Jay Hammond.

Of course, everyone does. We have plans where some people use them to save for their kids college education. In Alaska we all are very involved in our government/society. We collectively decide how to run our state and what to do with our resources.

We have a zillion local and state boards and commissions. We are all very active in the democratic process. As such we really do a good job of protecting our fish stocks, forests, resources and people.

50% of all resource revenues (on state land) and revenues from those investments run our government and surpluses can be put in the permanent fund. Our legislature will also often put other money e.g. law suits or surpluses into the principle by legislative action. We are always putting extra money into the permanent fund.

Too bad Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and other resource states didn't think to do that. But then none of them were ever run by liberals and they all, like you, hate big government.

Liberals, using government for the good of the people put us in better shape than any state in the union. In my town right now, our unemployment is below 5%.
