You are always at risk when someone else assigns your seat. I'm fairly paranoid in that regard and pick a seat that I know works for me. But, I am too frugal to pay for first or for business class.

I flew Delta to Paris last year. A real fine flight. 767 I think with a 2-4-2 configuration. Just like the old DC-10s. The seats seem the same to me.

No problem about the dereg stuff. I jumped in as well. Just to make the point that air travel for me is cheaper, safer, more flexible and with more choice than I had back in 1980.
