They did not want that big government program. Nor did the oil companies. And if we did not have the permanent fund we would be in the same trouble everyone else is right now because our production is now a 1/4 of what it once was. It has nothing to do with the oil or the small ppulation. It was the permanent fund alone and that was a totally liberal idea and implemented by liberals. In a blood in tthe streets fight with the Republican's. Texas has oil, Oklahoma. North Dakota and Montana have small populations. All have lots of resources, but no permanent fund! Lots of states have resources. How many have a humongous government permanent fund like we do? None. And why not? Because most states are controlled by conservatives and they hate big government.
