They may have a lot of oil or shale that is difficult to extract. But, for some reason, I just don't think Israel develped a technology unknown to The United States and Western Europe. A lot of oil that was to expensive to drill for at $60 a barrel suddenly looks pretty good at $1.06. That is my best guess on what really happened.
