Democracy?

<<<< I saw how much good "speaking out" did at the beginning of the Iraq war. That cured me of the idea that this is a democracy, and that the voice of "the people" matters>>>>>

Polls were of course all over the place just before the war - but generally a case can be made that they all supported invasion. As one against the Iraq war from the start - that's how I remember it. There just was just not much support for doing nothing. Ron Paul of course, but he was a lone voice. I blame the gullible public - democracy - for the war. The Neocons are still pounding the table for invading Iran now. Obama's policy is little different from the candidates on this. There is a way to make a persons voice heard if you think this is wrong - but it means voting for Ron Paul. ....... May of 03;

A Gallup poll made on behalf of CNN and USA Today concluded that 79% of Americans thought the Iraq War was justified, with or without conclusive evidence of illegal weapon
