Well yeah, if you find yourself in that situation, go ahead and blow your assailant away.

I still think Zimmerman followed and confronted Trayvon, and that instigated Trayvon to fight. Common sense dictates that you don't confront a suspicious looking dude in a hoodie, but I guess that firearm Zimmerman carried made him feel confident in doing just that.

Beyond that, I'll buy the self-defense argument and the notion that Trayvon was inclined to let his fists do the talking. But I'm of the belief that if you carry a gun, you carry a lot of responsibility with it.
