Let's assume Zak Sat as a network so that we are not completely speculating. This is a solution that can be demonstrated today. 1. Zak Sat or Wave does a deal using William Morris to aquire the Film right to a collection of videos. These videos are archived on a Server in Subic Bay at the Zak Sat Uplink. Each one of these films is stored encrypted using Wave. Because a satelite is more efficient for broadcast. The consumer is provided with a web site that lists all of the movies and their reviews. The consumer slects a Movie and is told that it will be sent in the middle of the night when bandwidth is not heavily demanded. The movie is then down loaded and stored on the consumers hard drive automatically by the system. This 2 gig file can be written to a DVD or played from the hard disk. The next day the consumer can slect the movie to play according to the business model set by the studio. 2.99 per day capped at 19.95 (For example) The movie is played and the amount of usage is kept by the PC including the Ownership level. In this way the movie can be deleted destroyed or lost and the right for that consumer to view it is maintained in a License stored by the meter. The amount of money on your meter is billed to your credit card or checking account. The details of the transactions are kept at the PC and the bill is printed locally by the PC or can be directly imported into your home finance software. Wave collects the money and then pays all of the partners based on their roles in that specific transaction. Delivery, aggregation, content, taxes.... I beleive this model really helps consumers with the media that is multiple use. Barney, disney, exercise... I think we can help but we have less differentiation in the Single view hit movies.
