Company Press Release

ANDATACO Announces Newest Addition to its Application-Specific Archecture

GigiRAID High Availability Storage Solutions Offer Dramatic
Performance and Scalability Gains Over Previous GigaRAID
Series Products

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 24, 1997-- ANDATACO
(NASDAQ/SMALLCAP:IPLS) today announced its RAID-based GigaRAID/SX
storage solution which is designed to optimize performance and functionality
for applications such as video, data warehousing, seismic processing, and
general technology development. The design of the GigaRAID/SX is based on
ANDATACO's Application-Specific Architecture (ASA), a design process which
matches storage product attributes to the data structure of the Company's
targeted applications in NT and UNIX environments. The GigaRAID/SX disk
array provides a 33% performance improvement, and doubles the storage
capacity of previous models of the GigaRAID Series to support applications that
require high performance for large block, sequential data processing.
Scalability is achieved through the unique, modular building block approach of
the GigaRAID family.

Performance is enhanced in this Ultra SCSI RAID storage solution by the
integration of the Intel i960 RISC microprocessor to service I/Os between the
industry's fastest RISC-based CPUs and disk drives. Cache is increased up to
one gigabyte and storage is increased up to 891 GB in a full data center. In
addition, the product provides the fault tolerance of RAID 3 and 5 protection as
well as RAID levels 0 and 0/1. ANDATACO's innovative, internet browser-based
storage management software is enhanced to support this newest RAID
member of the GigaRAID Series.

W. David Sykes, president of ANDATACO, said, ''This product continues to
show our clients that our Application-Specific-Architecture meets their business
needs while providing the highest level of protection and industry-leading
performance.

GigaRAID/SX provides our clients of our first generation solutions with an
upgrade path to the next generation. We will continue to push the window of
performance on our storage systems so that our clients can narrow the gap
between CPU performance and I/0 throughput.''

Rob Latimer, ANDATACO Product Manager, said, ''The GigaRAID/SX is
compatible with Sun Solaris, Windows NT, HP-UX and SGI IRIX operating
systems and platforms, and may be configured with either 4/9/18GB devices
running at the industry-leading 10,000 RPM. We have also expanded our suite
of service and support options to include on site installation, depot express, 5 x
9 and 7 x 24 on-site service maintenance contracts.''

ANDATACO-IPL Systems, Inc., headquartered in San Diego, California,
manufactures and distributes storage solutions based on its
Application-Specific Architecture for Windows NT and UNIX environments. The
Company's open-architecture solutions include RAID and RAID-ready disk
arrays; tape backup and restore products; and storage management, data
sharing, remote mirroring and disaster recovery software. World-class technical
support and service back the Company's products and customized
professional services programs. The Company distributes internally developed
products, and products from other manufacturers, through a network of 23
sales offices worldwide, and through business affiliates in Europe, Asia, Latin
America, Canada and Australia.
