Saying that Al Sharpton is a moderate disqualifies you from intelligent conversation.

I have no idea what happened. We need to know who the aggressor was.
If Zimmerman was the aggressor, then we need the threshold amount of evidence required for the police and prosecutor to arrest and try him. If the evidence is consistent with his story of self defense and he broke no laws, then he should be free. As far as I can tell, it is 100% certain he was hit, had his head pounded into the ground etc... but there is no evidence he was the aggressor over and above following him and then being told to stop.
If Trayvon was the aggressor because he resented being followed by neighborhood watch and Zimmerman was in danger, then it was self defense. Resenting being profiled does not give you the authority to beat someone up, threaten their life, or take their gun.
I'm not happy about living in a world with profiling. I just think it is mentally ill to accept higher levels of crime, murder, rape, terrorism, etc.. because we don't want to hurt someone's feelings (people who if rational would be in favor of it themselves).
The goal should not be to outlaw profiling because it's morally repulsive (though less repulsive than murder, rape, terrorism etc...) The solution is a world where profiling ceases to be effective because the stats are equal for all groups.
