Prediction (which I've already made many times this year): There (in this election year) will be NO SIGNIFICANT efforts at all in Washington to either rein-in federal deficits or reform our seriously corrupt and messed-up federal tax code (individual and corporate codes...) until after the election. Then --- faced with the election results and the impending 'hammer' on Jan. 1, 2013 of the expiration of Bush's temporary tax policies and the mandatory sequestration of federal spending enacted last year, we will finally see compromise and action. (HOPEFULLY along the lines of the Simpson/Bowles recommendation of $4 in spending cuts for every $1 of revenue increase... and all revenue increases to come from ELIMINATING as many as possible of the 110 major tax preference items / special interest loopholes as we possibly can... simultaneously with LOWERING all of the tax brackets.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ (And... PLs, no more vapid crap from that tool Reince Priebus! <g>)
