It this a personal issue or a political one?

The point of the covnersation has been the politics. What the government should do. Or broad aspects of health care (which could include non-governmental charitable payment, or the government forcing third parties to pay which seems to be a recent Democratic party favorite, or doctors treating people for free.

If I incurred some huge medical expense while uninsured Obamacare wouldn't help reduce the expense. It would just make me pay a fine for not insuring myself. Oh sure I could buy "insurance" (in quotes because under this conditions the actual transaction doesn't involve insuring against anything it would just be forcing insurance companies to pay for care), with my per-existing condition, but that's just forcing a third party to pay, just as the pre-existing requirement for emergency care to be provided regardless of ability to pay forces a third party to pay. Changing around the third parties, doesn't change the basic nature of the situation.
