I can't believe I can actually agree with something Van Jones has said, and at the same time disagree with Ann Coulter.

Van Jones: Romney Should Pick Condi Rice as VP and 'Watch the Obama Campaign Go Crazy'

When the Roundtable discussion on ABC's This Week Sunday predictably turned to who Mitt Romney should pick as his running mate if he seals the Republican presidential nomination, former Obama green jobs czar Van Jones made an interesting observation.

"You want to do something bold, put Condoleezza Rice on the ticket and watch the Obama campaign go crazy" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS, HOST: No -- well, that -- but on the other hand, Van Jones, maybe he does, and this is picking up on the other points you all were making as to avoid a -- any pick that looks transparently political and calculated, that could be his biggest problem.

VAN JONES, FORMER OBAMA ADVISER: I think that's right. And one thing I think is interesting is, if you want to do something shocking, you want the tea party base excited, nobody has talked about Condoleezza Rice.

But think about this. She checks off a lot of boxes, as far as women, she's a person of color, if the optics matter. But she's actually tested. She is actually a national figure. She has foreign policy experience. She was secretary of state. And she's sitting there.

Now people say, you know, you want to do something bold, put Condoleezza Rice on the ticket and watch the Obama campaign go crazy.

ANN COULTER: Not a chance. Too much like a Sarah Palin. It will not be a woman.

Does Jones have a point, or is Coulter's view that the nominee can't possibly be a woman in the election immediately following Palin's run spot on?
