The Wikipedia entry you offer is a simplistic one-sided view of "natural born citizen." It does not address most of the historical record in which an American born to two American citizens is argued to be "natural born" as opposed to "native born." Not only were many of the Founders adamant about a future president not having divided allegiances with even one parent of foreign origin, many Supreme Court decisions discussed the issue and Minor vs. Happersett (1875) defined the term. Wikipedia, in your reference, avoids this and this is the way the Left wants it. The recent justia.com scandal is another example of an attempt to whitewash any opposing references to the term "natural born citizen." The founder of that free legal web site (used by a huge majority of legal researchers), a supporter of Obama, in the summer of 2008 scrubbed or allowed to be scrubbed the Minor vs. Happersett case and portions of all other Supreme Court cases that made a reference to that case. Ain't hard to figure out why he did that, is it?

If one is to consider the Wikipedia reference you supply, they should also consider a more complete reading of de Vattel's treatment of the term here:

Leo Donofrio's web site is must reading for anyone wanting a complete legal examination of past Court decisions and proper and faulty interpretations thereof by all. He also documented the criminal justia.com scrubbing of Supreme Court decisions referencing "natural born citizen" during the months leading up to the 2008 presidential election.

Another site with innumerable links to the issue of "natural born citizen" can be found here:

Finally, in writing this response, I came across this article, posted three days ago, about the issue of Marco Rubio's eligibility.
