"Customer sampling of the Sony CXD1922Q is scheduled for January 1998, with an initial sampling price of $600. Manufacturing is expected to begin in 1Q'98." This is great news as far as I am concerned... remember CUBE said these single chip codecs would be $50ish in 1999... this PR from Sony suggests that they will indeed be at $50... and imagine the explosion on DVD when that happens... bye bye VCRs, Tape Players, etc.... Jp
