Speculators play a small roll, the biggest problem is ALL major black box programs including those of major Wall Street Institutions are based on interest rates and currency exchange rates. Look no further than the Federal Reserve buying 61% of U.S. debt by creating dollars out of thin air to explain the bulk of commodity inflation, things like food and energy that the Govt tries to sweep under the rug and say...not counting that...too volatile...when the so called volatility is within a long term trend it can longer be ignored.
