Re: "wouldn't you have said the same thing about our credit rating, before it actually happened?"

Nope.

Re: "And the point is that "we" are even being challenged for this World Bank slot .... I may be wrong, but I don't recall that ever happening before. Do you?"

If you read my earlier comment you will know that I was careful to also mention the fact of the economic rise of the developing world.

So... although I regard it as ridiculous (Meaning: ain't gonna happen! Only some clap-trap trumped by the wacko world of right-wing media to elevate the blood pressures of their more gullible readers and, not so coincidently *also* elevate their own ratings at the same time... not forgetting of course the lady herself who has her *own* career-and-prestige-related interests in selling this silly idea as far and wide as possible that she is really a 'candidate' for the slot at WB)....

It is also important to note that I DO BELIEVE that one day not too far off the US's traditional stranglehold on the WB and Europe's stranglehold on the IMF will be broken open to let other rising economic powers play too....

(Just not going to happen this year with the 'Nigerian finance Minister'. <GGG>)
