Hope I didn't annoy re: your comments on Japan. Agree that there are cultural differences that seem to keep them from being competitive in some of the hi-tech areas, but the strongly nationalistic feelings of some have bothered me in the past. I shouldn't have ascribed these to you. You've seen the stickers "Hungry? Eat your import" and the like that were prevalent a few years ago. Or "America, right of wrong" I love our country, but don't believe its "us" against "them."

I was just trying to point out that some of the financial debacle going on over there has to do with things other than "comptetiveness" issues. Though I love our country, I am not unabashedly proud of it.

God raises up and God casts down. No one rules except by His authority as it was demonstrated to Nebuchanazzer. If our country leads -- we should all pray that it leads in the right direction, by God's grace.

I'm glad that other peoples of the world can have success and would never just "buy American" as though that were somehow virtuous.

I know that you have concerns for people the world over, including those in poorer countries. Is your minstry poised to teach those there how to "fish" as well as provide? It would seem that the training of "native" missionaries could be most effective rather than sending large numbers who must learn the language, culture, etc.?

Regards
Barry
