They should make the payment reasonable. Funding 75 years into the future is not reasonable. It is a burden designed to kill the post office. They have a $40 billion fund already.

You have finally convinced me now that I understand your argument. The correct funding level for the USPS defined benefit pension is exactly $0.00. There is no good reason for an organization that consistently loses money and is hopelessly overstaffed to offer a defined benefit pension. The existing fund can be converted to a defined contribution plan, and going forward they can have the same type of plan common for workers with similar skills in th private sector. This simple change would go a long way towards making th USPS solvent.
