I'm not confident the crisis at Fukushima is over yet.. Just some astronomically inept decisions in the construction and operation of that plant have created that disaster (not having the diesel fuel tanks protected against EQ and Tsunami, which resulted in the cooling water generators failing), and the construction of the spent fuel rod ponds.

There appears to be ongoing fear that Fuel Rod pond #4 may collapse in the wake of what is an eventual aftershock event. If this occurs, it could result in a massive fire and spewing of radioactive material in a way that will far overshadow Chernobyl.

I continue to support the use of nuclear energy, but it has to be done in a smart manner, with the maximum degree of passive safety systems that will counteract human error (which is inevitable).
