Exactly that looking at the ME , here is a classic example of what's missing ...where you have three competing monotheisms & they cant get along though all cut from the same tree . And why is that ? There is great heroic imagery , deeds done & truths pointed to in each and many great ideas to live by . So why do all these great truths end up with such general discord & infighting?
But here you have to look deeper at the phenomenon of what you are trying to achieve vs what is being conveyed by whom in the narrative & all religions contain deep truths for that social order & start competing . This can be said easily or it would be great insult to lives & sacrifices of others who lived before whos lives were every bit as important as our own . Here we need to lose our egos a bit , to be able to reason deeper to see what goes wrong which is the nature of local tribal socializing of what is eternal.
But looking at it from an evolution or rational standpoint all these "truths" pointed to in the stories, parables etc become localized & those stories become the property of that society , social order . There are the powerful symbols such as Jesus on the cross and all the various interpretations can be beautifully ascribed but in effect its not something that Jesus needs , for people to just become devotees & worshippers but not go beyond mere worship & become that which he had become .
You see thats where everyone gets into trouble , pointing back to this & that "historical fact" when what you are talking about is entering into that same field of experience that Jesus also walked himself , that path he tred and not everyday poitning back to things he had done . Instead now we have is all these people "believing" in so many great truths as historical of their saints & prophets all missing the crux , adapted to their specific social schemes , when its not about believing anything but living it instead .
People end up fighting over the most trivial things ....science does try to help offering great new things to inspire everyone , look how the world united when men walked the moon . Religion & Science are really brother & sister both trying to describe more profound aspects of "Life" and know more intimately what it is we all are involved in here -->living & living well together.
Scientists constantly test each other & dont get to be scientists without much effort , this is where the action is for everyone , to get busy living the truths & forget the different localized histories claimed by this or that social order fought over , but what can be applied to all . |
