Shane, O Most Fearsome Wizard!!... your wisdom doth not fail I see.. It will take me some time to peruse and absorb, but first impressions are that you have a handle on it--- as usual. Concur that the effect on LSI of the SEA "meltdown" (a bit strong?) will be relatively minor. I saw some stats while on sabbatical that the affected countries account for only 7% of our consumer sales of tech products, although 22% of our tech business is involved, one way or the other... I would assume the difference comes from the fact that many of our big companies (including LSI) produce a lot there, but not much remains there. Does that track with your (admittedly superior) knowledge of the tech traffic in that region? How much are you counting on DVD for LSI, versus how much (eventually) for digital cameras? Is the potential for the cameras possibly equal to/greater than the expected DVD market? Getting a handle on the relative markets there, IMHO, is important to a rational assessment going forward -- greater than Playstation, etc, possibly? //OT// Now why are you picking on my brother, AG? Also, to prove there is nothing to your theory about TSO's absenses and market drops, I canceled a planned trip for today to be present as the market does its thing :-)... We now have the addition to winter quarters completed, except for carpeting, and the new computer center is providing a more comfy space to cope with the flood of knowledge that comes pouring off the SI.// Will have more, if I can ever get caught up on postings, unanswered email, etc...(It's like sucking on the action end of a fire hose to get a drink of water.) Especially want to see if we can get a handle on whether the "turmoil" is going to get largely resolved near-term. I'm still operating on the assumption that we will see a low end retest, so have taken some (modest) bear positions... and still hoping to get more LSI under 20.. reasonable? In any case... looking for a great '98!! TSO OLE!! |
