I think there are two primary factors. I had not considered this first fact much, but I see more and more how powerful this is.

1) Those with the gold make the rules. We have elite running the country whose primary purpose is retaining power. Look at Corzine, why isnt he in jail? They are able to make tax laws that allow them gather more wealth. I am not in favor of Obamas Buffet rule because investment is important. But why has it taken so long for congress to be subject to insider trading??? WTF?

2) This is a more serious trend that is irrefutable and has global society ramifications. It is most noticeable in this recover that companies were able to increase productivity without hiring. As more and more things are replaced with automation, more and more jobs will pay only minimum wage. Only the very best and brightest will be able to rise above the bar and make good money. It is what is happening and laws cannot change it unless we completely change how property and wealth are created and owned. I cant see that happening.
