I think the stakes are much higher in mobile devices and the 2 big players have massive guns (Apple with its own hardware and Google soon with Motorola). Microsoft will not lose anything with the Nokia buy as hardly anyone else is selling big quantities of WP. Nokia is the main horse. And making it part of Microsoft, people and business will be more confident on their purchase. Just thinking out loud.
