Not sure if conversations with aliens ever yields much except the crop circles & pretty lights are fun but they sure can be an irritating non-comittal bunch of unsharing sob's hiding in the invisible ....

That link to Keat's poem of Lamia will have to read but note it does fit in quite well here . It answers the question of where the book Unweaving the Rainbow by Richard Dawkins takes its title from takes its title from the below -passage from Poe's work who was inspired by Keats to challenge some of the colder aspects of science taking all charm out of things & rote philosophies (& religion's dogmas)

* In Dawkins book above he attempts attempt to show that this view of "cold philosophy" is incorrect and that science reveals, weaves greater mysterys , rather than destroys, the true beauty of the natural world. There's a nice tie in for you .

"To Science "

Do not all charms fly At the mere touch of cold philosophy?
There was an awful rainbow once in heaven:
We know her woof, her texture; she is given
In the dull catalogue of common things.
Philosophy will clip an Angel's wings,
Conquer all mysteries by rule and line,
Empty the haunted air, and gnomed mine
Unweave a rainbow, as it erewhile made

The tender-person'd Lamia melt into a shade.

~Poe
