The REALLY laughable thing about the Dems and their tirade against stay at home moms is that is THEY who have wanted the US Taxpayer to pay women a "salary" for staying at home work and raising their children. Remember when NOW was campaigning for that?????
Many of the Left women were of the generation that thought there were TOO many people on earth already, and didn't think people should have more than one or two children. This same group thinks that there are too many people and they take up and use too many of the earth's resources. Remember "Silent Spring" ???? ----This same mentality.
In the early 1970's, there was an article and cover on Fortune magazine about women and their changing lives. I am of the generation that was called the bridge....most of our Mothers did not work, either by choice, or by society's customs. Wealthy women certainly DID NOT work (unless they were a Dr, Lawyer, Teacher, or other Profession)....) Some people really thought women were going to take the jobs the men would otherwise have.
The wealthy simply looked down on women who worked for pleasure, because they took it to mean "that woman can't live on her husband's salary"......The women in less fortunate financial circumstances mostly worked for other, more wealthy, people as a domestic of some kind. And then there was the birth group I was in....We were the group of women born between 1935 and 1946.....some of us did have the temerity and desire to go to work....
I know when I did go to work after the last child was in the 2nd grade, I really didn't want to do it. BUT we knew college was coming and there was no good fairy on our shoulders. So I did. HOWEVER, as my husband interfaced with the top management including the President and CEO of his corporation, and other companies he entertained, I did NOT mention I'd gone to work....and didn't say that I was working until several years later.
As ANY of us know who both work outside the home and maintain a family in the home, we work, and work HARD.....PLUS as you say, this is the group that does the car pools, and does the volunteer work, as well as most of the house work.....
By the idiotic comment the Democrat advisor said yesterday, she really stepped on MILLIONS of toes. Both women and men. Most men know how much their wives that work outside the home really do. She no doubt, offended most thinking people everywhere with her stupid comment. |
