As an atheist, I can say I am sure there are many different intelligent entities/sentient beings in the universe. If we can just survive for a 100 years we will interact with them. But I don't think our Darwinian heredity will allow it. I see too little signs of rational thought and too much complete nonsense being addressed as rational. Like golden tablets or believeing in stuff that has no proof to support it and tons of proof to refute it. Guys like Einstein and Bertrand Russell and Thomas Mann, who searched the universe for answers, with the greatest of minds, became very exasperated with the human species in their old age.
