Thanks for the reply. I was printing a letter in black. I need a lot more handholding. I don't see any HP software on this computer and can't find any installation discs so I am going blind. How do I get it to print a test pattern? I tried just taking out and putting back in the ink cartridge but it didn't go into a test page.
