Do you know where and how languages develop?

Language development parallels social development, where one does not happen without the other. I heard or read someplace that, “Language is to the mind as light is to the eye” (author unknown...sorry, Great quote but I just don't recall where I first heard it... I'm thinking it had to do with Annie Sullivan's mentor).

I have been watching this discussion for several years now as it has been moving across SI threads. I can see why mysticism and science are not compatible when they are placed in opposition to each other. It isn’t impossible to reconcile the two, but a contest will never produce such results. Patience and all due consideration here has long passed as can be witnessed by the total deterioration of decent discourse among the key thread representatives.

Under these circumstances the truth of our being has only become more evanescent with the passage of time. On the one hand the substance of our being cannot be denied as a definitive set of conditions. On the other hand the infinitive reach or our being is also undeniable. Were we to agree on that much we would at least have a starting point in productive discussion.
