4/13/12 Contest Update
Resurrection! No, I’m not referring to the event celebrated this past Sunday. It’s my Contest portfolio performance I’m talking about.
Winding up an ignominious dead last in the 2011 Contest, who would have thought my 2012 biopicks would rise up to the Contest lead. But, miraculously, BULBA’s portfolio is now in first place with a 45.17% YTD gain. BIOJIM’s portfolio, up 45.03% YTD, is just a splinter behind in second place and DON’s portfolio, up 35.90% YTD, is in third place.
More generally, stocks had a couple of good days but with investors plagued with doubts the indexes closed down for the week. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 15.48% YTD (vs. up 22.79% YTD a week ago). In comparison, the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 13.11% YTD (vs. up 18.59% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 15.59% YTD (vs. up 18.25% YTD a week ago).
At Friday's close, 3 of the 38 Contest portfolios were now in the red and 22 of the 38 portfolios were beating the NBI.
